Situated next to Holyrood Park, in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat, our Distillery is located in an area known to some as the ‘Charmed Circle’.
Named after the volcanic fault lines below the city, the ‘Charmed Circle’ provided abundant water supplies to Holyrood Abbey in the 12th Century as well as over 40 breweries that operated in the city in the 19th Century.
Vital to the operation of these breweries was the Innocent Railway which once ran directly through St Leonard’s. Constructed in 1835, our Distillery building served as a terminus for trains carrying coal and malt which powered Edinburgh’s breweries and other industrial centres.
In a nod to Edinburgh’s past we reconfigured the old train terminus into a three story working distillery. The perfect way to celebrate a bygone era in a modern, innovative way.
