Black Cork

A New Make inspired by Edinburgh's legendary Black Cork beer and part of our 2022 cask program. Black Cork was an Edinburgh staple of the 18th and 19th Century, created at Bell's Brewery which once stood where the Pleasance Theatre stands today. We've added a twist of Islay Peated Malt for added complexity and in reflection of the old coal fires that powered Edinburgh's brewing industry in the 18th and 19th Centuries. To imitate the old coal fires of Edinburgh we used a combination of peated and roasted malts. Peat versus Chocolate, Crystal and Caramalt creates the complexity here.
