Charmed Circle Strong Waters: Golden Promise
Iconic Golden Promise, a barley famed for its rich flavour, became the darling of Scotch whisky distillers during the malt whisky producing heyday of the Sixties. However, the varietal fell out of favour as it could not compete with the higher spirit producing East German barleys that replaced it. As a new make, Golden Promise presents a sparkling minerality. Blended with wheat spirit it becomes highly aromatic with elegant notes of citrus and pepper.

Nose
Bright with citrus, lemon zest and refreshing orange blossom.
Palate
Clean and mouth coating with further notes of lemon.
Finish
Clean and gentle.

A new spin on a classic. Refreshing, elegant and really easy to make.
You’ll need:
35 ml Golden Promise
20 ml Cognac
15 ml Lemon Juice
10 ml Sugar
75ml Champagne (or any fizzy wine)
Method:
Shake all ingredients except for the champagne. Fine strain into a flute glass and top up with champagne.
